Description | |
Exercise Name: | Axis of symmetry |
Math Missions: | 4th grade (U.S.) Math Mission |
Types of Problems: | 3 |
The Axis of symmetry exercise falls under the 4th grade (U.S.) Math Mission. This exercise introduces the idea of an axis of reflectional symmetry.
Types of Problems[]
There are three types of problems in this exercise:
- Make the line of symmetry: This problem asks the user to make a line going through given dots that will be an axis of symmetry of a given shape.
- Make the symmetric shape: This problem asks the user to create a shape that is symmetric with respect to a given line.
- Choose the axis of symmetry: This problem draws a shape and give several potential reflectional symmetry lines. The user is expected to selects all of the lines that are axes of symmetry.
Strategies[]
This exercise is hard to get accuracy badges because some of the pictures can be a little subtle. It is hard difficulty to attain speed badges because of the time needed to move things around to make shapes.
- When the symmetry is close, it is a good idea to use a piece of paper or other "ruler" to make sure you are selecting correct answers or drawing correct shapes.
