Description
Exercise Name: Count objects 2
Math Missions: Early math Math Mission
Types of Problems: 2

The first instance of the Count objects 2 exercise is under the Early math Math Mission. This exercise helps students to practice counting groups of objects less than 20.

Types of problems[]

There are two types of problems that show up in this exercise:

  1. Select the correct count: This problem asks students to indicate how many objects are in an non-grid (often circular) arrangement of objects.
    Countcirc

    Select the correct count

  2. Match the correct number to picture: This problem has three numbers between 1 and 20 and three pictures of those numbers of objects. The student is asked to match the picture of the number of objects with it's number representation.
    Matchcount

Match the correct number to picture

Strategies[]

Matching problems take a fair amount of time and often the number of objects are close so it is important to count carefully which takes time. This exercise is difficult to get accuracy badges on, but it is easy to get speed badges if student can be patient.

  1. The pictures are often grouped nicely, so student can count in groups of 2 or 5 to help their speed slightly.

Real-life Applications[]

  1. Knowing how to count is essential for learning algebra and the higher maths, and counting is used for almost everything humans do.
