Description | |
Exercise Name: | Make line plots |
Math Missions: | Early math Math Mission |
Types of Problems: | 3 |
The Make line plots exercise appears under the Early math Math Mission. This exercise actually introduce multiple statistical ideas that can be easier for other Math missions.
Types of Problems[]
There are three types of problems in this exercise:
- Create line plot and answer: This problem provides a situation that can be pictured on a line plot. The user is expected to create the appropriate line plot and answer the associated question.
- Create bar chart and answer: This problem provides a situation that can be pictured on a bar chart. The user is expected to create the appropriate bar chart and answer the associated question.
- Create pictograph and answer: This problem provides a situation that can be pictured on a pictograph. The user is expected to create the appropriate pictograph and answer the associated question.
Strategies[]
This exercise can use geometric knowledge to create statistical graphs. Knowledge of size and quantity can provide answers.
- The ideas for line plots, bar charts, and pictographs (which all analyze categorical variables) can help to finish this problem more quickly.
Real-life Applications[]
- Measurement is important for taking proper medicine. If one has an illness (whether serious or minor) they need to take their medicine and take it in the proper amount. If they take too little or too much then they are not going to get the proper benefit from it.
