The Comparing numbers to 10 exercise appears under the Early math Math Mission. This exercise helps users to compares numbers geometrically and associate that with the numerical representations.
Types of problems[]
There are two types of problems that show up in this exercise:
- Larger from two pictures: This problem shows two collections of objects. The user is to select which collections has more objects, or if the collections of the objects actually have the same size.

- Count then tell which is larger: This problem asks the user to count the number of objects from two collections, enter them in blanks, then compare to tell which collection is larger.

Strategies[]
These problems take some care and cannot be done very quickly. They are not difficult if user knows how to count up to 10, but patience is needed. They are easy to get accuracy badges, but not easy to get speed badges at this time.
- In the first problem type the sizes of different objects are different, sometimes significantly. Thus users cannot rely on the image extending further to say that a certain collection has more objects.
- Collections are generally grouped nicely, allowing counting by grouping strategies.

- Knowing how to count is essential for learning algebra and the higher maths, and counting is used for almost everything humans do.
