Strategies[]

This exercise is easy to get accuracy badges because everything is color coded so it is easy to check to see if the user is right. The speed badges are medium because the manipulative is easy to use and intuitive, but a bit tedious for some of the larger digits like 8 or 9.

  1. Use the color coding scheme to help as needed.
  2. The problem can be sped up by using a tablet or stylus to help users click on the manipulative faster.

Real-life Applications[]

  1. Money is used in every day life.
  2. Decimals are very common in shopping. Price tags, food labels, and receipts all contain decimals.
  3. At gas pumps, decimals are used to show how much gas is pumped and much it costs per gallon.
