Description
Exercise Name: Skip-count by 10s
Math Missions: Early math Math Mission
Types of Problems: 2

Skip-count by 10s is an exercise under the Early math Math Mission. This exercise helps students to understand the patterns of the numbers that are ten apart both forwards and backwards from a starting point.

Types of problems[]

There are two types of problems that show up in this exercise:

  1. Select those users will see: This problem begins from a certain number and asks students to select the numbers that they would see if they were to skip-count by tens from the given number.
    Skip10-1

    Select those users will see

  2. Fill in skip-count sequence: This problem has the student skip-count by ten from a number sometimes forwards and sometimes backwards.
    Skip10-2

    Fill in skip-count sequence

Strategies[]

These problems seem easy to get accuracy badges but because of the multiple select and multiple fill-ins they are medium difficulty to get speed badges. Using the "tab" button can make these problems faster.

  1. When students skip count by 10, there is only one option for the ones digit. If they can figure out what it is, it makes it easier to find the correct solutions on problem type one, and easier to check their answers on problem type two.

Real-life Applications[]

  1. Knowing how to count is essential for learning algebra and the higher maths, and counting is used for almost everything humans do.
