Description
Exercise Name: Geometric definitions
Math Missions: High school geometry Math Mission
Types of Problems: 1

The Geometric definitions exercise appears under the High school geometry Math Mission. This exercise practices giving correct and concise definitions for common geometric objects.

Types of Problems[]

There is one type of problem in this exercise:

  1. Assign each student a useful feedback: This problem provides a classroom prompt and three possible responses. The student is asked to take three possible teacher responses and assign the most useful feedback to each of the responses.
    Geodef2

Assign each student with a useful feedback

Strategies[]

Knowledge of the basic definitions of geometric shapes are encouraged to ensure success on this exercise.

  1. One answer will be correct, one answer will be far off the mark, and one will have pieces of correct information.
  2. The placards will need to be moved, so if one is correct, the other two can be "flipped" without reading them. This can increase efficiency if one knows the correct definition of the object being asked about.

Real-life Applications[]

  1. The problems in this exercise are real-life applications for teachers and/or tutors of mathematics.
  2. The ancient Egyptians from over 4000 years ago were very good at shapes and geometry. Every time the Nile burst its banks and flooded the planes, they had to use geometry to measure their gardens and fields all over again.
