Strategies[]

This exercise is medium difficulty to get accuracy badges because it is important to read carefully to catch subtlety in the questions. The speed badges are hard to attain at this time because of the care that needs to be taken and the differences in the specifics of the problem.

  1. The diagram can be used more quickly than reading the problem in certain cases.
  2. There appear to be three sub-types of problems that show up. They are pictured on this page with a, b, and c referring to the numbers in the order they show up in the problem.

Real-life Applications[]

  1. Choreographers need to be able to divide the piece they want to perform, into smaller pieces so that everyone will be able to do and give their best, whether they dance or choreograph an orchestra. In the end of the day they need to flow together in harmony and they will use division to accomplish that.
  2. Multiplication is needed and used by mechanics for repairing cars by multiplying when they overhaul the engine, measure the pistons or just to put in a new gearbox or engine.
  3. Addition can be used for adding objects, like adding money totals.
  4. Subtracting can be used by businesses to see how much money they make minus the money they spent for profit.
